| You have a tank and you are considering starting a species or environment tank such as a Amazon biotope. What size tank is best suited for a certain species of fish or environment that you would like to create? _________________

| | I was thinking of having a brackish tank with a mangrove tree in it. It would be a tall narrow tank and be half water and half terrarium. I was thinking of orchids and air plants attached to the mangrove above the water, and archer fish and others for fish in the lower half. I thought of placing a dish of rotting, but not smelly hopefully, stuff to grow maggots behind the mangrove so there would be a source of flies for the archer fish to do their legendary spitting thing on, and I'd have to have a screened or screen with glass top so the flies can't escape. |

| I do have an Amazon biotope, and it required a lot of thinking to set it up. I went with a 75 gallon, and I researched really hard to find plants and fish that came from the amazon. I decided to mainly collect swordplants for that tank, so I got some VHO lights so I could have the best growth from them. I also got some driftwood, and some brown and beige gravel. I poured in 4 inches of gravel, then placed the driftwood in. I used 2 Jager heaters, because I decided to go with discus, and they like warmer-than-usual water. I also used an Eheim canister filter, and an Aquaclear power filter. 2 powerheads were also put on, so that the plants were more areated and so algae couldn't build up that fast. The tank looked great, and 2 weeks later, I added 6 discus, 20 cardinal tetras, and 10 cory cats.
