| | I have been thinking about which is my favourite type of fish and right know I would have to say Loaches. I have a couple and I love to watch them. (They are Yo-yo Loaches.) |

| Loaches are definitely one of my favorites. I've got 2 dojos, 3 clown, and I used to have a couple other really cool ones. I have to say that Florida/spotted Gars are my favorite though. They spend most of the time sitting on the bottom blending in with the gravel waiting for a tasty goldfish to swim by so they can rip their alligator like jaws full of teeth into them The goldfish's eyes bug out when they're being squeezed! They periodically rise to the surface to gulp air as they have an air bladder that acts as a primitive lung so they can live in low O2 conditions. They get really long, about 18 inches or so in captivity, so I'll have to go from 100 gallons to I'd say a 500 gallon wide tank full of plants, rocks and wood before long. I'll start feeding them mostly prepackaged food at some point because I can't afford, nor do I really have the heart, to sacrifice baby chicks or mice for their regular diet. |

| | Wow they sound pretty mean, I have read a little on them when I had thoughts of getting one, till I read how big they get. That was a long time ago. |

| | They're only mean to fish they can either swallow, or to some degree have established themselves, in this community tank. To all the others they can't swallow they're really docile. Mine are about 10 inches long and I think their growth is already slowing down a little as they accustom themselves to my 100 gallon planted tank. I'm committed to keeping them regardless of how big they get. |

| My favourite fish is probably the freshwater angelfish. Yes, I have been breeding them for a long time along with Discus. Check out my forums at http://aquariumuniverse.one-forum.net and register!
By the way, awesome website! I will be visiting here more often! |

| | I've got the gouramii, the danios, the african cichlids, and the shubunkin goldfish that sit in a 75gal tank on my desk and live their lives peacfully "bopping " about. I must like these guys the best. The friends and family are all attracted to the cichlids in their rockwork with their rich colors and more aggressive nature. But the goldfish have really stuck with me over many years. I should will this tank to the local chinese restaurant. |

| | blood parrots are fish that need a lot of room. 1 will need a 30 gal alone with no other fish in the tank. for each extra blood parrot you need to add on another 10 gal. anything smaller will stress them way to much in my experience. they will also spend a lot of time hiding and they are a carnivrous fish. mine prefers shrimp and blood worms but will go after the flakes i feed to the guppies since i wont put to much of the other in the tank in case i miss taking some out and it rots in the tank. did that when i first got her and almost lost her to changing chemicals due to the rotting shrimp. she would hide a couple peices for later and not go back to them. found them when i took out the decorations to do a major clean and yuch. my big tank is a little overstocked with her but the filter on it is working good at keeping the water clean so not arguing to much. |

| i just got looking through one of my fish books to find the mosquito fish and realized that its not the one i've been wanting to get. the fish that i want is the Guenther's Notho ( Nothobranchius guentheri) and after looking it up on the net finally realize that its the Killi Fish that everyone seems to have. I want some but i've asked my local pet shops about the Killi fish and they look at me like i want to kill fish. So how hard are they to get and how many can i put in a tank. I have read disscutions about people putting them in with bettas but others sites say they are agreesive towards other fish and others say they are peacfull and no maore agressive than a tiger barb, dose this meen i could have a school of them in a tank and if so what size? if anyone could steer me in the right direction for info even how to get them Males and females. _________________ Starting new is hard, and finding the right KilliFish is harder.. |

| Killies are hard to find. There are fresh water, estuarian and salt water killies. They live in the back eddies and canals and paddies of this world just like the guppy and betta.
You may be out there with the bait net to find some.
If you find a vendor that can get them from North America, you might have something. |
