| Oh alright. I saw something really nasty in my fishtank the other day. I leave the sliding glass door open most of the time with no screen because I like the out doors, but I get flies in my house at times.
The other day a big blow fly got into the light on my 35 gallon planted co2 enriched tank. The fish and the Ghost shrimp had at it all day. Then later in the day I got down and looked closely at the fly and there were these little baby fly larvae coming out of it's butt, one after the other. It looked pretty nasty but I guess it just added more things for the inhabitants in the tank to eat. That must be what the fish and shrimp were eating as they didn't seem to make much of a dent in the flies exoskeleton. |

| I agree that sounds very nasty, but I'm sure the fish enjoyed it. _________________

| I'm surprised none of your fish ate them.
I've got a problem with my 35 gallon planted tank with DIY co2 yeast driven system. The sponge fell off the intake for my canister filter and a big snail got stuck in the pipe, occluding it. The small co2 line that also connects to the intake suddenly became a suction which ended up sucking 1/2 gallon of yeast, sugar, and alcohol into my tank.
Now it looks like milk and there's white crap floating all over the place and covering everything. Only one fish has died, and I've been doing 50% water changes at least once a day, yesterday twice. It seems to be getting milkier and milkier, but I think it'll be OK if I just keep up the water changes. |

plus... this was around the time where the west nile was going around... i took action STAT!... |
