OK. But I know a subject that never ends well because people seem to feel it's taboo to rationally talk about.

It's about religion. I have a belief system that has held true through discussion after discussion. Problem is, most people would rather be programmed and take no responsibility for their beliefs than to try their ideas out for themselves to see if they really do stand up to the light of reason.

Well the wife and I spent our first week end at the trailer this year. It's in a new park so I have done some exploring and found that they have some great trails and several small creeks. I'm looking forward to seeing what lives in them and some of the marsh land that is near by.

Coy eggs from my stepfathers pond. Can I raise them?

the smallest thing can make a big difference.

I put a bit of sponge in the intake on my hob last night to keep fry from getting sucked up. It has been cloudy but slowly clearing up with the weekly water changes. Woke up this morning to a crystal clear 10 gal tank. I am so surprised and so happy it is crystal clear. YAY

Oh alright. I saw something really nasty in my fishtank the other day. I leave the sliding glass door open most of the time with no screen because I like the out doors, but I get flies in my house at times.

The other day a big blow fly got into the light on my 35 gallon planted co2 enriched tank. The fish and the Ghost shrimp had at it all day. Then later in the day I got down and looked closely at the fly and there were these little baby fly larvae coming out of it's butt, one after the ...

My Website Had Moved

Just to let all know, my main website had moved. It is now hosted by a company in the UK. I am now able to do what ever i want on my website. It was a very big job but it is done. Now i can get back to work on making it bigger. My web address is still the same, http://rolliefish.com

so some of you'se might know allready that i'm trying to put together a 90g reef tank... so i have almost everythey done and ready... i'm finishing up the protein skimmer piping, so i put the 20g tank inside the stand to test fit everythang... and what happens...

Guorami not looking good

I have checked all my water parameters and they are all good. This Guorami is at least 21/2 years old and is 4 1/2" long.

All the other fish look great it's just this one fish he has a reddish color in his fins, here are some pics I hope help.

I took several pics and these are the best I could get, I have circled all the areas that look bad. He is eating and swimming in a normal way. I have no clue what this is or could be, so I'm hoping that someone here can give me some ideas ...

What size was your first aquarium?

My first aquarium was a 10 gallon tank I got from my brother. It had a corner filter in it and a small pump to run it, no lid or heater. I bought a heater and made a lid for it put gravel in it and some plastic plants. Most people at that time didn't have computers, so you had to go to the library or ask others to get info, I got a lot of bad advice back then, but managed to not kill all my fish at once. I had it for year and a half before the last fish ...

this is my MINI DIY-UGJ write up... i can't find the full one i did a wile back...

first you start drawing up the blue prints...

I want to be able to set up a 55 gallon tank with brackish water fish (estuarian fish) that will require increasing salinity as they mature.

What is the relationship of the Ca hardness and total hardness and pH within 55 gallons of otherwise neutral pH water? The buffering factors are unknown at this time, but I suspect that there is very little buffering factor.

I could be adding baking soda as a buffering agent as needed, but I don't know how to gauge this.

Please advise.

Euthanasia is a very difficult and usually hotly debated topic. I'm curios to know what others do and what there opinion is on the different methods, such as freezing and the use of clove oil. Since I may have to do something to end the suffering of one of my favorite fish, I have done some reading and at this point I'm swayed toward the use of clove oil.

How many of you give you fish names? I met this guy at my lfs and he has names for all his fish. I have never even thought of doing it and even thought it was kind of odd.
