I-would-say-that-the-top-of-the-USD-tank-will-be-fine-without-the-rim-as-there-will-not-be-any-pressure-pushing-out......Just-to-be-clear,-this-was-the-bottom-till-you-turned-it-over.....It-would-look-better-without-that-rim-I-agree.

have-you-found-a-powerhead-with-a-venturi-strong-enough-to-pull-water-all-the-way-up?.....That-was-my-biggest-problem......Right-now-I-have-my-little-one-full-and-as-little-bubbles-get-into-it-over-time-and-the-water-slowely-goes-down-I-just-put-a-tube-up-in-there-and-suck-out-the-air-with-my-mouth.......The-one-I-saw-on-the-Internet-did-use-a-venturi,-and-there-was-also-a-bubble-wall-that-looked-really-cool-in-the-front....You-need-a-good-strong-venturi-going-all-the-time-for-that.

igot the venturi covered as i have a converted protein skimmer with a 280 gallon a minute flow rate power head and venturi valve the i have clamps that hold a hose so that any bubles are sucked out. I can even have a airstone sending bubles up the tank and i don't lose any water from the upside down tank. I just need to know if the new setup i am making will hold pressure or not.

Since-there-will-be-a-vacuum-in-the-USD-tank-the-panes-should-be-pushing-together,-not-apart-at-the-top,-so-I-don't-think-you'll-need-the-rim-at-the-top.

i know the pressure will be pulling from the UDT, but i'm talking about the 30 gallon the will have all the water weight of its on compacity plus the 8-10 gallon. The 30 gallon is the one i want to know if ileave the black plastis trim off of will it separateenen though the UDT will be sealed right to it.

Without-actually-seeing-what-you're-making,-I'll-say-that-the-pressure-at-the-top-of-the-bootom-tank-won't-be-much-diferent-than-if-there-was-no-USD-tank-on-top.

But if the pulling effect in the USD tank is holding on to aleast 8gallons and because of the suction that is being cause would almost double. I know the USD tank after i silicone it back to gether i know that it will be mroe than strong enough. But my cosern is that i have never used a tank bigger than 5gallons without having the plastic trim peice on...Will it break or come apart. I've checked for stressing and there is none. The 30 gallon it one of 2 tanks that were not smashed oddly enough so it's full of water and stones anr gravel and i have the plastic and i have not had the trim peice on for a day or two. Plus my other concern is where the USD's side pains of glass rest on the 30gal 's top edge. Both USD tank and the 30gallon's Glass are the same thickness no gaps all flush, but will it hold presure and water? at that seems on both sides i am going to add a pic of the hole thing , so if anyone that looks at it could you give me some tips that you would think would help please tell me i am taking my time doing this tank idea cause of the potental water flooding that might acure if i dosomthing wrong .

i put the pics in my photo album, and was told by a good freind that is also really into fish keeping, that i should put a peice of glass about 2" wide and the same length as the USD tank inside to cover and support the seem where the two tanks meet but don't overlap. He has built all his own tanks and he was really interested in the USD tank idea. So he is going to make a huge one. He dosn't have one tank under a 100gallons (he thinks tanks any smaller are a waste of time). So as he builds it i will have pics of it in my album to show anybody that is iterested in seeing it.I can only imagine how big the thing is might be, plus he said hes got this small little space in 3 car garage (which is all tanks and fish equipment. Its preety impreesive and some of the fish he keeps are just awsome.
