| Is there a thermometers that you consider better than others or that is more accurate? There are all types of thermometers and for someone new it can be confusing as to which is the best one to get, do they spend a couple dollar or more. Is a cheaper thermometer as good as a more expensive electronic thermometers? _________________

| Try some digital thermometers. They actually work really well for me. _________________ I have been keeping aquariums most of my life. I have kept both fresh and salt water, cichlids, catfish, loaches, clownfish, wrasses, and everything in between. Feel free to ask me any questions!

| | I use the ones that you stick to the side of your tank, but as to how accurate it is, I couldn't say but they must be OK lots of people use them. |

| I have one basic bare bulb alcohol thermometer that is mounted in a stainless metal thing that hooks to the side of a tank or container. I've had it 35yrs even though it appears rather fragile. It will give a good reading within a minute of any water I stick it in. Use mine to check at water change time (and adjust heaters various times of year) then adjust water temp of replacement water. Works well for me using the same thermometer. Everybody is on the same calibration. I leave it in a safe place off the side of my kitchen sink. I know I stuck in my simple methodology here and it may not suit for others set-ups that need more attention due to different home heating or whatever variance that goes on. I met someone in Vermont that bred Discus in tanks in a barn. I would imagine that he would want to be able to walk in and know for sure and quickly that his tanks were heated properly in the winter. My system would not work well for that one.
The glass tube things that will float in the tank looks good but I remember always having to grab hold of it or do calisthenics to see it properly. |

You can now buy suction cup for those and stick them to the side of the tank, I have a couple and it works really well _________________
