| i do water changes every month or sometimes every three months... but about once a year i do a major 90%+ waterchange to every tank...
i have more than enough filtration and water circulation on each tank... not to mention that i have over 10 100g+ tanks... i have like a schedule of sorts to log when i should and what tank i should do next... it's very complicated... |

| We've been doing weekly 75% changes on this cloudy 75gal goldfish tank.
The best guess on cause is cheap store brand food. That's gone now, lesson learned.
SO, when changing 50+ gal water one must give the water heater some recovery time or the input will get colder and colder and any tropical fish in there will be shocked.
I know this sounds like common sense but my new helper expressed that his spouse did not catch on to that readily, so I thought I might put that out there. It may/could catch anyone off guard anyhow.
pH shock is bad news, too. If I do a change after a months time I make my son do the math for a moderate pH change at a time
Testing tank, %left in, tap/source, you get overall change.
Over the years I found that any water change based stress on my fish: the third time is irreversable slow death. |

| No matter what I usually try t do a water change every 2 weeks, but there are the odd times where it could be 3 or 4 weeks. I think water changes are important to the over all health of the tank and fish. _________________
