PostSubject: 6 gallons of water missing from tank!   Sun May 25, 2008 6:00 pm

I got home from the trailer today to find 6 gallons of water out of my 20 gallon tank. I looked every where for the leak or a crack, nothing, so we asked my stepson if he notice that there had been a leak down stairs in the basement by his room and he said yes but it stop. This was on Saturday he never knew it was the tank since he would never even look in that room. Well this left me confused, since if the bottom part of the tank was leaking it wouldn't have stopped till the water was gone. I took the filter of the tank and moved it over to the 29 gallon since I was figuring some of the fish would have to be moved over there and may as well run the extra filter on it. When I plug it in the water was almost flowing over the top. That made me check the back of the 20 gallon where I discovered that there was water between the tank and the back ground pic. It has been awhile since I have rinsed the filter media in that filter and it reduced the flow of water though the filter and it has a poorly designed over flow that is not large enough to prevent it from flowing over the top since I had the filter cartridge incorrectly placed in the filter. The only reason it stopped is once that the water level dropped so low it was harder for it to draw water up reducing the flow and weakening it to a crawl allowing the water to flow though the filter and over flow at a rate to prevent it from over flowing more. I have refiled the tank and cleaned the filter, but just in case I'm wrong we are keeping an eye on the tank. It has shown no signs of a leak and it's been 3 hours.

I had a fluval canister that was running on a 80gal salt tank that i had. I had a cable guy come to my place to install a cable line. For some reason he need to get behind the tank to run the line and in the prosess of trying to get behind the tank he snapped of the output hose, and then tried to fix it with electrical tape. I was not there and had my roommate let him so when the cable guy left my roommate had left to go to work also. When i got home there was close to 70 gallons on my floor and about $2000 of fish and anenimes all dead and the smell of salt water and carpet to boot.

you wanna hear luck. My first time i built a tank, the thing must have at least been a 200-300gal tank. It took me and four of my freinds to get this 2" thick 5' long and about 3' wide glass i bought from one of my freinds dad (he had the glass pre cut and driled) these big sheets satt in his garage for probally 3 years waiting to be built. I said that i wanted to build my own tank to give my Texas Ciclids more room as they were a comunity of 40 and seperated between 5 tanks. Once we got all the glass down stairs agter removing two walls (that was just to get in the front door) then cause the stairwell wasn't big enough to get them down that way i tore up floor boards about 8 feet wide so that we could lower them horizontaly (standing up they were to hard to handle and i did not want them chipped at all) throu the floor boards. when it was all in, my freinds and i begain cilicloning the glass together. No i did;nt clean any edges off to remove our dirty sweaty hand marks dust dirt, and didn't even use the right cilicone. But what do ya know it was all to gether srapt up and man i think i onlt probally waited 8hrs for it to dry then anxious me started to fill it (straps on and tight). it took half to maybe an hour to fill, got filled and to my surprise no leaks so i took the staps off still no leaks i got in to get a pic down of me pretending to be a fish in the tank...... well, do you know how fast and how hard you hit a wall when 200-300 gallons of water all the sunden pops the front glass off and takes me for a ride.Ya hoo! That was my parents house and that was my dads bar room WAS his bar room till the water the pains of glass destroyed almost everythig. alls i know was i was never aloud and aquarium in the hous no matter how small only in the garage.

They're was and pic that showed the front pain popping off and the start of t tidle wave carryyn what could be a dumb founded body surfer. Thae only damage to the glass was some minner chips . When we Moved the tank still rested with the three sides and bottom in the same spot and the front behind it. The thing was to heavy to do anything with and it was in a back part of the basment so i left it Man i wish i could see the experssions of the new owners and wonder if and how did they get it out..
