What size was your first aquarium?

My first aquarium was a 10 gallon tank I got from my brother. It had a corner filter in it and a small pump to run it, no lid or heater. I bought a heater and made a lid for it put gravel in it and some plastic plants. Most people at that time didn't have computers, so you had to go to the library or ask others to get info, I got a lot of bad advice back then, but managed to not kill all my fish at once. I had it for year and a half before the last fish died. I later discovered that the piece of wood socked up the evaporated water then dripped harmful resins back into the tank which finally along my lack of knowledge killed my fish. I didn't set up a tank again till several years ago, that same 10 gallon tank, only this time I read on the net how to do it right. I purchased a HOB filter and a new lid, I no longer have that tank set up, it is in my storage room. Having things work out with that tank, even though I still made lots of mistakes, made it easy for me to get more into it and enjoy it more.

i started out with a 300g pond... i had a japanese girlfriend (can you believe that) at the time and some of thier customs were that fish had to be outside of the house... then later i got myself a 15g flat tank... like a mini glass pond i made... it was only 5" tall and had awesome filtration but no heaters...

then a couple of days later i got a 100 gallon tank... what a huge step... now when i see something under 100g to me it feels like a really small tanks... lol... my smallest tank now is a 60g... and i have over 10 tanks now and 4 huge ponds... it's going to be 10 years that i've been doing the fish enthusaist thing...

but we've always had fish... my dad used to breed fancy goldfish in the 80's for some dude... and we always had fish tanks but they weren't mine... i was born into a house that allready had fish tanks... wierd...

I started out with one of those Bettas you win at the carnival. I won this fish and had no clue what to do with it , so I went to the pet store and picked up this book they had. I picked up a large fish bowl and put him in it and I had him for 3 years before he died. I then went out and picked up a 20 gallon tank and a 55 gallon several years later. Wow gumbii it must have been cool learning the way you did.

started out with a 5 gal goldfish tank as a kid. was a gift to the family from a family friend and thankfully my mom went out and learned all she could about the care of them and we had them for 3 years before we had to find a new home for them they were to big. went from there to a 10 gal and then a 20 gal tank with angel fish. now i'm on a 55 gal community with a real weird assortment of fish.
